Tooth Gem Aftercare
What is Tooth Gem Aftercare?
Immediate Aftercare (First 1-2 hours):
Avoid eating and drinking: This allows the adhesive to fully cure. Only water is recommended.
Avoid smoking/vaping: These can weaken the adhesive.
Short-Term Care (First 12-24 hours):
Stick to soft foods: Avoid biting into hard or sticky foods (like gum, hard candies, chips) that could dislodge the gem.
Avoid acidic drinks: Soda, citrus juices, and alcoholic beverages can weaken the adhesive.
Be gentle when brushing: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and avoid brushing directly over the gem for the first 12 hours.
Avoid electric toothbrushes: For 48 hours, stick to manual brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush.
Don't pick or play with the gem: Avoid touching it with your tongue or fingers.
Long-Term Care:
Maintain good oral hygiene: Brush and floss regularly to prevent plaque buildup around the gem.
See your dentist regularly: This helps ensure the gem is secure and your teeth remain healthy.
Avoid biting directly on hard objects: This can damage the gem and weaken the bond.
If the gem falls off: Contact the professional who applied it for advice on removal of any remaining adhesive and reapplication.
Do not attempt to remove the gem yourself: This can damage your tooth enamel.
